Tow Hook Safety, What you need to know.
Do yo have a newer car? Maybe you don’t but you might have seen a small square piece in the front and back bumper that looks likes its removable? That is a cover for a hole that allows a tow truck operator, or anyone for that matter, to screw in a tow hook to make it easier to winch a vehicle out of a bad spot or up onto a tow truck. There is something that you need to know. Not all screw in tow hooks are safe. In the two pictures here we see a pretty nice, shiny blue tow hook. This is made of aluminum, its breaking strength is much lower and it could snap sending your car into harms way possibly doing more damage or even hurting you or others. The other picture shows a screw in tow hook, black in color that is made of solid metal. This has a much greater breaking capacity than the aluminum version and is the safest bet when utilizing this method of winching or strapping a car down. At Brown’s we know what will keep you and your vehicle safe.
